Meet The Tiny 14lb Dog With a Big Personality Looking For Love

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a dedicated foster-based dog rescue in Massachusetts, recently introduced an adorable dog named Kader who they describe as a “tiny dog with a big personality”. At about four years old and only fourteen pounds, the local animal rescue explains that Kader’s rescue story is a sad one. “He was found unconscious (with a embedded harness) by his foster's mom son in a parking lot. The finder brought Kader to the emergency room where he stayed overnight. If it hadn't been for the finder's kindness, Kader wouldn't be alive anymore.”

Since his rescue, Kader has been recovering and adjusting to life in foster care. "He likes being near his foster family but doesn't like it when the humans try to play with him. He prefers having his own space and observing everyone do their own thing," Sandy Paws Rescue explains. His resilience is evident in his growing trust in humans, despite his previous hardships. His foster family has been working to provide Kader with the care and attention he needs to thrive while he waits for his forever family to find him.

While Kader has formed a strong attachment to his foster family, particularly enjoying sleeping with his foster mom, his neediness and territorial behavior require careful management. To ensure Kader's well-being and the safety of all family members, the rescue organization requires that he be placed in a home with only adults or children aged 15 and above who "respect Kader's space and who can establish firm boundaries (example: as not letting Kader sleep on the bed or spend all his time on one person)." These guidelines are crucial for maintaining a household that respects Kader's unique personality while also fostering his continued growth and adjustment.

While generally friendly, Kader can become protective when his favorite person shows affection to others, explains Sandy Paws Rescue. He enjoys canine companionship, particularly with female dogs or males of similar size, but may assert dominance over larger male dogs through mild growling. His interactions with cats remain unknown, though his tendency to chase squirrels suggests a strong prey drive. Despite his social nature, Kader's ultimate preference is clear: being carried by his favorite human, highlighting his need for a close, nurturing bond in his forever home.

Sandy Paws Rescue is a nonprofit foster-based dog rescue in Massachusetts that works to save dogs and give them a second chance by finding them their forever home. Sandy Paws Rescue explains that they "rescue dogs from various shelters, cruelty situations, owner surrenders in Massachusetts, and strays from Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida." They don't have a shelter location therefore all of their dogs wait to find their forever homes while in private foster homes or kennels.

Sandy Paws Rescue is a "100% volunteer-only operation," with most of their volunteers having full-time day jobs in addition to the work they do for the rescue. They explain "our only personal gain, is from seeing our dogs placed in wonderful homes." Sandy Paws Rescue operates and is only able to exist due to donations made to the nonprofit rescue. From transporting them from one state to another, to paying all medical bills, food, and more- running a dog rescue is expensive. "Our adoption fees do not cover the amount that we spend on our puppies/dogs to vet and transport them," explains Sandy Paws Rescue.

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. emphasizes the importance of finding the right forever home for Kader. They are looking for adopters who understand and appreciate Kader's unique personality and needs. An ideal home for Kader would strike a balance between providing him with the personal space he requires and offering the love and care he so deeply deserves.

Potential adopters will be pleased to know that Kader is current with all his vaccinations and is neutered, ensuring he's ready for his new chapter in life. This little dog with a big personality is waiting for a family that can appreciate his unique traits and provide the nurturing environment he needs to continue thriving.

Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. requires that anyone interested in adopting must submit an application to them. As a foster-based rescue based in Massachusetts, they don’t have a shelter location, and visits with dogs are by appointment only. Their dogs reside in private homes or kennels until adoption.
