Local sensation Shanna In A Dress will kick off this extraordinary variety show at Moshmellow at 7:30 pm.

This unique interactive show invites you to explore how we can not only survive, but thrive in challenging times.     “This show isn’t about doom and gloom,” said Aktipis. “It’s about empowering people to survive and thrive—through music, laughter and a bit of fun—no matter what life throws at us.” Along with researcher Coltan Scrivner, Aktipis shared her insights in the Scientific American article, The evolutionary reasons why we are we are drawn to horror movies and haunted houses.

The Science Behind Human Connection and Thriving in Trying Times at Washington University in St. Louis, October 16 at 2 p.m., Kuehner Court. Weil Hall. Aktipis is a professor of psychology at Arizona State University, where she studies conflict and cooperation. She will talk about why humor and human connection are crucial in apocalyptic scenarios, both in real life and in the stories we share.
