Macy’s emerges from takeover attempt
After a months-long parade of shocking closings at Westfield Montgomery mall, this week we have some good news about who’s staying open: Macy’s. Instead of being dismantled, Macy’s says it can now carry out a turnaround plan that includes closing some 150 underperforming locations (not ours) and upgrading the stores that remain (probably ours). Macy’s also is overhauling its collection of private-label brands, including the introduction of several new lines (On 34th and State of Day so far) and the just-announced relaunch of kids’ brand Epic Threads. More new lines will be rolling out in the months ahead.
