Several weeks after the closing of the last Mod Pizza in Montgomery County, the struggling chain has been sold. Mod Pizza is now a division of Elite Restaurant Group, a California firm that already owned a half-dozen other pizza chains. Mod had been teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, closing several dozen locations (including Kentlands) in the months before it went dark at Rockville’s Montrose Crossing.
