DICKINSON, ND ( KXNET ) — DSU leaders are making plans for the future of the campus, and they’re asking Dickinson city leaders for $2 million.

Ty Orton with the DSU Heritage Foundation appeared before the city commission with a request to renovate and expand their ag building.

The plan is a $25-million project , which Orton says would allow Dickinson to host around 20 rodeo, horse, and other events a year.

Right now, the foundation is considering two options. The more expensive of the two would include a practice area and indoor livestock stalls.

“What we’re asking from the commission is still the $2 million,” explained Orton. “That helps us to enclose the facility. That helps us to do the entryway, and those are the things to take that facility to the next level.”

Orton says the classroom renovation in the building will start in January, and that the project itself would take at least a year to complete.
