Betty Joyce Fussell Loggins, a humble and compassionate soul, passed into the arms of the Lord on July 15, 2024.

Born to James and Rosie Fussell on September 21, 1931, in Dickson, Tennessee, Joyce spent her life devoted to her family, her faith, and her community. With a heart full of love, she extended her warmth and care to everyone she met, a testament to the loving spirit that she carried throughout her life.

Joyce’s professional journey reflected her dedication to public service. For many years, she served as a Court Clerk, demonstrating her commitment to her community. She carried out her responsibilities with integrity and goodwill, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and those who sought her assistance. Despite her retirement, her impact on those she served is still evident today.

Her spiritual journey was equally impactful. Joyce was a faithful member of the Baptist community for over half a century. She spent more than 50 years at the Dickson First Baptist Church before moving to the Bethel Baptist Church, where she served for the last 4 years. Filled with a deep and abiding faith, she lived by the Biblical verse: “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32). This verse embodied Betty’s humble, loving, and compassionate nature.

Family was the cornerstone of Joyce’s world. She cherished her four children, nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. A devoted fan of the University of Tennessee Football and Basketball programs, as well as the Atlanta Braves Baseball team, Joyce’s enthusiasm and spirit were infectious. Her love for her family and her favorite sports teams were a testament to her indomitable spirit, even as she bravely battled dementia in her later years.

Graveside Service for Mrs. Betty Joyce Fussell Loggins will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Union Cemetery in Dickson, TN with Melinda Orgain and Bro. Randy Franklin officiating. Interment in the Union Cemetery.
