Carla Jo Gaunt, of Cadillac, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at her home with family by her side. She was 68. Carla was born on December 28, 1955, to Robert and Joan (McConnell) Tanner in Cadillac, Michigan. She was married to Dennis Gaunt. Carla dedicated her life to raising her family, and especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she often referred to her only grandson, Casen, as her "sunshine boy". She had a love for owls and Indians and liked collecting different figurines of them around her home. She will be remembered by her daughters as a special, yet sassy, loving mother.
Medallion hunt back for sixth year in Cadillac
CADILLAC — Pop culture has many well-known detectives. Sherlock Holmes, Columbo, Nancy Drew and more recently the Pokémon character Pikachu are all pop culture detectives that have graced either the big screen or small screen. Once again, the Cadillac Lions Club is asking locals residents to harness their inner detective to figure out a mystery. They also want them to stretch their legs, wander Cadillac and have some fun while doing it.

MANISTEE — About 100 people turned out for watch parties in Manistee on Thursday night for the first presidential debate of 2024. A raspy and sometimes halting President Joe Biden tried repeatedly to confront Donald Trump in their first debate ahead of the November election, as his Republican rival countered Biden’s criticism by leaning into falsehoods about the economy, illegal immigration and his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection.

Kathryn Jo Anderson, age 71, of Cadillac passed away Friday, May 31, 2024 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital with family at her side. Kathy was born February 7, 1953 in Cadillac to Donald and Dorothy (Hicks) Anderson. She grew up in Cadillac and graduated from Cadillac High School in 1971. Kathy worked at the Big Boy restaurant for 40 years before retiring as a manager. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers and tennis matches. The other joys in Kathy's life werespending time with her family, going out for a good dinner and doing crossword puzzles.
