Today in history: New pharmacy planned for downtown Cadillac
The first Cadillac showing of the great motion picture, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” was before a large audience at today’s matinee and the reception given the film assures success for the balance of the local run, tonight, Friday and Saturday with exhibitions each day at 2:15, 7 and 9:15 p.m. One of the best things about the screen is that the masterpieces are just as big in Cadillac as they are in New York and Mitchell Street audiences can see exactly the same thing that is seen on Broadway. In the case of no other form of dramatic entertainment is this true and the popularity of the films is based to a large extent on this certainty. The entire production is one that every person should see. There is nothing that has yet eclipsed it on the screen and anything superlative is an event for a small city. Occasions such as this occur only after long intervals and are usually traceable to the enterprise of some large concern, such as the Fitzpatrick-McElroy Co., owners of the Lyric circuit, as an independent exhibitor could not afford to rent a film that cost as much to produce as did “The Hunchback.” It is the request of Manager Frank Anderson that as many as can conveniently do so, attend the evenings open for those whose only opportunity to attend will be after the working day is finished.
