A New York resident has succumbed to Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), a rare yet fatal mosquito-borne virus, prompting Governor Kathy Hochul to designate EEE as an "imminent threat" to public health. The individual's identity remains confidential, with the reported case occurring in Ulster County, marking the first EEE-related fatality in New York since 2015. This incident represents the second EEE-related death in the U.S. this year, following a case in New Hampshire last month.
