Dixie County Man Pleads Guilty to Methamphetamine Charges, Faces Minimum of Ten Years in Prison
A Dixie County resident has entered a guilty plea in a federal case involving a substantial quantity of methamphetamine. Stephen Godbolt, 50, from Cross City, faces a serious stretch of time behind bars, with a minimum ten-year sentence looming and the possibility of life imprisonment, according to a press release from the Office of the United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. His sentencing is on the court calendar for September 13, 2024.

Mrs. Kathryn Land McInnis, a 77, 4th generation native of Dixie County went home to be with the Lord on June 29, 2024. She is survived by a son Billy Everett (Connie) and daughter Ronda Everett; grandchildren Trent Everett, Serena Miller (James) Kade Everett (Faith) Breanna Berry, Kendra Berry, Michael Royal, Chase Royal, Cameron McInnis (Brittany), Beau McInnis; and 12 great grandchildren.
Bay scallop season returns
The 2024 recreational bay scallop season in the Fenholloway-Suwannee River Zone is open through Labor Day, Sept. 2. This includes all state waters in Dixie County, a portion of Taylor County including the towns of Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, and a portion of Levy County, according to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) news release.
