Wyoming Health Officials Remind Parents About Vaccinations
Officials with the Wyoming Department of Health are reminding parents to make sure their kids vaccinations are up to date. According to a WDH news release: “Children have returned to schools, where they are in close contact with each other all day. It doesn’t take much to spread illness,” said Dr. Alexia Harrist, state health officer and state epidemiologist with WDH. “We are thankful to have vaccines to help protect our kids from many life-threatening diseases such as measles and whooping cough.”
Firefighters make progress on Wyoming wildfire containment
CASPER, Wyo. – Fire crews have increased containment on four northern Wyoming fires that have been burning between Gillette and Buffalo, and on the northern Wyoming border. According to a release from the multi-agency Southwest Area Incident Management Team issued early Friday, crews are starting to expand suppression repair work with heavy equipment such as bulldozers and graders.

Etna’s JACZ Drive-In featured in Jeff Foxworthy Segment
A local Star Valley business found themselves in part of a television segment with comedian Jeff Foxworthy on Wednesday. Jeff Roper with KIFI Local News 8 in Idaho Falls had Foxworth on the air. The two were doing a segment called “Redneck or not?” where Roper would show Foxworthy local images and ask if they were redneck. Roper showed a video clip of the famous Fry Sauce wagon at JACZ Drive-In in Etna. “A trailer with fry sauce in it. That’s hall-of-fame level redneck,” joked Foxworthy.
Casper Region offers excellent elk hunting forecast this fall
CASPER, Wyo. — Casper area elk hunters may be in luck this year as populations remain healthy with liberal hunting seasons. Meanwhile, pronghorn populations are recovering, mule deer populations are stable but below goals and white-tailed deer populations are rebounding from disease despite substantial die-offs, according to Wyoming Game and Fish’s 2024 hunt forecast.
