The Gourmet Highway is not just about food; it’s about immersing into the rich tapestry of Southern culture: Meeting local chefs, learning family recipes passed down through generations, and experiencing the warm hospitality that’s synonymous with the South.

Ernest Hemingway's Key West home is our perfect destination for an imaginary dinner party. Inviting a diverse group of talents, such as authors, playwrights, actors, musicians, and some of Papa's favorite companions, ensures a dynamic and engaging gathering.

As the dinner guests arrive at the Hemingway abode, they are greeted by the warm ambiance of the Spanish Colonial architecture and lush tropical surroundings. The dinner table is set in the beautiful courtyard, where fragrant blossoms entice the senses while gentle breezes rustle the palm trees.

Esteemed attendees include F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Tennessee Williams, Ella Fitzgerald, and Ava Gardner, Ray Charles, Scarlett O’Hara, Truman Capote, Harper Lee, Louis Armstrong, Emeril and even a King. These notable figures contribute their unique perspectives and stories to the evening, fostering lively conversations and vibrant interactions.

The menu for the evening would reflect Hemingway's love for gastronomy, featuring an array of delectable dishes inspired by his travels. The aroma of Cuban-inspired cuisine, fresh seafood, and exotic fruits and vegetables fills the air, tantalizing the taste buds. Precious wines are poured from bottles stored in Papa’s renowned cellar.

Throughout the evening, guests share their artistic creations, reveal anecdotes from their lives, and engage in playful banter. As the night unfolds, laughter, music, and inspiration intertwine, creating an unforgettable celebration of art, culture, and the joy of storytelling.

Good food and fine wine brings out the best.

So, hop in the car with me and join this mouthwatering journey through the culinary shrines of the Deep South. The Gourmet Highway awaits, promising a delicious adventure that will leave you craving for more.
