Frank Lloyd Wright's Dreamland: 3 Masterpieces

It was like walking into a dreamland of light, color, gravity and space. My experiences at three of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpieces forever changed my beliefs about limits. There are none.

I spent a few days as a guest in the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix and Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I have visited the campus of Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida several times.

Frank Lloyd Wright's vision for architectural design and innovation is exemplified in Price Tower. This iconic skyscraper showcases his unique approach to blending organic and geometric elements, with its copper facade and cantilevered floors. Wright's commitment to creating harmony between man and nature is evident in the integration of the tower with its surrounding landscape, making it a remarkable embodiment of his philosophy.

Florida Southern College is another testament to Wright's vision. The campus features the largest collection of his works, including the distinctive Annie Pfeiffer Chapel and the iconic Water Dome. Wright's emphasis on the integration of buildings with their surroundings and the use of natural materials is prevalent throughout the campus, creating a cohesive and harmonious environment for students, faculty and visitors who tend to leave dazzled.

The Arizona Biltmore is yet another remarkable representation of Wright's vision. Known as the "Jewel of the Desert," this luxurious resort showcases his signature style of utilizing geometric patterns, natural light, and indigenous materials. With its timeless design and attention to detail, the Arizona Biltmore stands as a prime example of Wright's belief in creating structures that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Price Tower, Florida Southern College, and the Arizona Biltmore all exemplify Frank Lloyd Wright's vision through their innovative design, integration with nature, and use of organic materials. These iconic structures are purely American, an enduring testament to Wright's architectural genius.
