When Will Tyler Glasnow Return to Dodgers? Dave Roberts Provides Update

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow will likely be out for two weeks, according to manager Dave Roberts.

Despite the Dodgers clinching a 7-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles placed Glasnow on the 15-day injured list.

“He’s got some elbow tendonitis,” Roberts said. “And this came about after his bullpen and after his ‘pen, I forgot which day it was, he felt good. The next day in catch play, it flared up a little bit so right now it’s tendonitis. We took scans and that’s what came of it. Our expectation is that it’s going to be the two weeks, we back date a few days. When his time is up, he’ll be ready to make the start and we’ll plug him in somewhere.”

The right-hander was placed on the injured list to give Justin Wrobleski a spot on the active roster. According to Roberts, Glasnow insisted on making his start on the mound in Saturday’s matchup, but the Dodgers decided it was best to rest the starter.

With the postseason imminent, a cautious approach from the Dodgers is likely best.

Prior to the matchup, Roberts alluded to members of his pitching staff dealing with an injury. Lo and behold, one of those pitchers was Glasnow. This is the 30-year-old’s second time on the injured list.

    The right-hander has a 3.49 ERA and a 9-6 record. Glasnow has thrown a career-high strikeouts with 168 through 134 innings. He’s held hitters to a .190 batting average.

Glasnow was traded to the Dodgers in December from the Tampa Bay Rays and immediately made an impact on the mound for Los Angeles.

Glasnow’s injury marks yet another absence from the team at a time when Los Angeles needs his arm the most.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres are closing in on the Dodgers’ lead in the National League West division race. It’s imperative that the Dodgers play perfect baseball, given that the Snakes and the Padres are pretty much doing the same.

With Glasnow sidelined, it’s certainly another dent in the Dodgers rotation. There hasn’t been much of the season where every starter was healthy and ready to go.

The ongoing injuries undeniably have forced the Los Angeles lineup to face adversity early on in the year as well as now down the stretch.

As October baseball approaches, the Dodgers need all hands on deck to make a deep playoff run.
