For the first time since 2022, Justin Turner was back at Dodger Stadium . He received a hero’s welcome and was honored with a pregame ceremony.

The day couldn’t have been more perfect. The Los Angeles Dodgers even shut out Turner’s Seattle Mariners 3-0 at Dodger Stadium.

Prior to the game, Turner addressed the crowd and reminisced about his time in a Dodger uniform.

“It was one of the best things that ever happened to my career, getting a chance to put on this uniform that so many great players have worn throughout the years and be on some teams that have done some historic things,” Turner said “It’s really something that I feel honored to be a part of.”

Accompanied by his wife, Kourtney, and son Bo, who was born on July 4, the Turner family stood behind home plate as the Dodgers unveiled a video montage and presented him with a $10,000 check for his foundation as well as three framed photos of him in action.

“What’s up, LA?” Turner said as the crowd stood and applauded . “I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you guys so much for nine of the most incredible years of my life. You guys made this one of the most special times and I can’t say thank you enough.”

Los Angeles fans identify Turner as a Dodger for life and the longtime third baseman would love the opportunity to come back when his playing days are over. All the Dodgers have to do is ask.

“I’m from Southern California, I think it’s a great place to be,” Turner said. “It’s a great place to play. Obviously, if that opportunity presented itself it would be something that I really, really would put under consideration.”

Turner was brought to Los Angeles ahead of the 2014 season and immediately made an impact. By 2017, he was propelling the Dodgers into the World Series with a walk-off home run against the Chicago Cubs on the 29th anniversary of Kirk Gibson’s World Series homer.

His diving tag to complete a rundown against the Atlanta Braves in 2020 helped the Dodgers win the pennant and then the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

When Turner and the Dodgers parted ways in 2022, it left the veteran in a state of confusion. But, two years later, the past is the past and he is looking forward to a chance to come home again — whenever that might be.
