What a week for the Dodgers!

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered a crucial week with a narrow lead over the National League West division rivals. In their six home games at Dodger Stadium against the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays, the Dodgers won five of their six games, giving them a three-game lead in the division.

The week was highlighted by Shohei Ohtani joining the 40-40 club in epic fashion with a walk-off grand slam on Friday night. Ohtani’s walk-off homer was one of several game-winning home runs and comebacks the Dodgers saw over the course of an eventful week.

Here are the top 10 moments from the last week of baseball:

Honorable Mentions: LA Kings Day, Lakers Weekend, Justin Turner Returns to Dodger Stadium

    10. Dodgers Nab Leo Rivas at the Plate

After a pitch flailed away from catcher Will Smith’s glove in the top of the ninth inning, Mariners’ Leo Rivas attempted to steal home. He nearly made it, but Smith quickly tracked down the ball and threw it to Daniel Hudson to get Rivas out before he could reach home plate.

    9. Gavin Lux Home Run Against Mariners

Lux continued his hitting hot streak with home runs in back-to-back games against the Mariners last week. His second home run put the Dodgers on the board in the fourth inning after they trailed the Mariners 3-0.

The home run turned out to be a confusing one, coming back under the wall and onto the field. It was correctly ruled a home run.

    8. Tommy Edman, Miguel Rojas Great Plays at Shortstop

The Dodgers came into the season with major questions surrounding the shortstop position, and now have two options at the position. Both Edman and Rojas made diving grabs for the baseball, and quickly threw it to either first or second to get the runner out.

    7. Max Muncy Slams 2-Run HR In His Return From IL

After a lengthy stint on the injured list, Muncy finally returned from an oblique injury to the Dodgers. He hit a two-run home-run in his first game back from the IL, helping the Dodgers’ nab a 3-0 win over the Mariners.

    6. Mookie Betts Game-Tying Double

The Dodgers entered the seventh inning of their second game against Mariners trailing 3-2. Mookie Betts came up to the plate, and tied the game with a crucial double to right-field. The double would help the Dodgers earn a comeback later in the game.

    5. Pitcher of the Week: Gavin Stone

Stone pitched two games over the last week, and pitched 7.0 innings in each game after not pitching seven whole innings since the end of June. The 25-year-old gave up five hits, four walks, and just one earned run while striking out 17.

    4. Kiké Hernández Game-Tying 3-Run HR

With the Dodgers trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning against the Rays, Hernández blasted a three-run home-run to tie up the game 3-3. The Dodgers ended up winning 7-3.

    3. Mookie Betts Go-Ahead 2-Run HR

Betts began the Dodgers’ scoring on Sunday, hitting a two-run home run to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Los Angeles went on to win the game 3-1.

    2. Jason Heyward Pinch-Hit 3-Run HR

With the Dodgers and Mariners tied 3-3 last Tuesday, Heyward came in during the eighth inning and hit a three-run home run to give the Dodgers a 6-3 win. Despite the game-winning home run, Heyward was designated for assignment two days later, to the disappointment of teammates.

    1. Shohei Ohtani Joins 40-40 Club With Walk-off Grand Slam

Was there even any question of what would land at No. 1?

The Dodgers’ designated hitter arrived at the plate with 39 home runs and 40 stolen bases and the game tied at 3-3. In storybook fashion, Ohtani hit a walk-off grand slam to give the Dodgers a 7-3 win and make Ohtani the sixth member of the 40-40 club in MLB history. The grand slam cemented Ohtani as the fastest player to reach 40-40 in a season, in what will go down as one of the best moments of the season.
