How Much Do Gold Shohei Ohtani-Decoy Bobbleheads Cost on Ebay?

Wednesday was Shohei Ohtani’s second bobblehead night as a Dodger. The Dodgers distributed bobbleheads featuring Ohtani holding his dog, Decoy, to the first 40,000 fans in attendance.

The limited quantity of bobbleheads attracted a long line to form hours before the first pitch. A handful of people started lining up by 11 a.m. despite the game starting at 7:10 p.m. Spectators wrapped all the way around to the “Welcome to Dodger Stadium” sign on the corner of Vin Scully Ave. and Stadium Way.

With more tickets sold than bobbleheads available, it was not guaranteed that every person in attendance would be able to acquire a bobblehead, especially the rare golden version that the Dodgers announced on Aug. 22.

Given the high demand for an Ohtani bobblehead, some people who acquired one headed straight to resale websites like eBay to cash in their prize. By 6:45 p.m., 25 minutes before game time, resellers had started to lower their price tags to the bobbleheads.

But, the price continued to rise as the night progressed, reaching five digits by 11:12 p.m.

Perhaps resellers realized very few people would be willing to pay that much for the bobblehead because, by Thursday morning, the prices began to drop. As of 10 a.m. on Thursday, the highest asking price for a gold Shohei-Decoy bobblehead on eBay was $8,999.99.

This is a significantly higher resale price than the rare gray road uniform version from Ohtani’s first bobblehead night, which sold for more than $2,300.

Although limited fans obtained a bobblehead, the real treat was watching Decoy “throw” the ceremonial pitch to Ohtani. It was a trick the pair had practiced for three weeks leading up to the bobblehead night.

Only time will tell how high of a price someone will pay for a bobblehead. But, Ohtani memorabilia has always caused an uproar, so a lucky few may land a fortune.
