The Dodgers lost to the Chicago Cubs, 6-3 on Tuesday. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was mostly excellent in his return, recording his first five outs via strikeout (and eight total) while allowing just one run in four innings. The Dodgers’ bullpen and defense melted down in the late innings, however, sending them to their second straight loss to begin the series.

Here are all the headlines you might have missed Tuesday:

    Dodgers Reliever Suffers Hand Fracture

    Yoshinobu Yamamoto Rejoins Dodgers

Yoshinobu Yamamoto made his way back to the pitcher’s mound after a nearly three-month stint on the injured list due to a rotator cuff strain. His return comes at a crucial time as the Dodgers gear up for the postseason. Meanwhile, Nick Ramirez has been designated for assignment, freeing up space on the roster for Yamamoto’s return.

    Tony Gonsolin’s Anticipated Return

After a long rehabilitation following Tommy John surgery, Tony Gonsolin threw two scoreless innings in his 2024 debut in a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The Dodgers’ starting rotation has felt his absence, and his return is eagerly awaited.

    Clayton Kershaw’s Optimistic Recovery

Clayton Kershaw is battling a toe injury but remains hopeful of returning to the Dodgers’ rotation before the postseason. Despite setbacks, Kershaw is finding ways to maintain his arm strength and readiness. while searching for a solution for the bone spur in his left foot.
