Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Landon Knack has credited his diet as part of the reason for his success this season. The Dodgers have counted on their rookie starter to fill in at multiple points in the season, and Knack has continued to do so.

While injuries have decimated the Dodgers’ starting rotation throughout the season, Knack has maintained his health to this point of the season. In fact, Knack says he is feeling the best he has all season.

“I actually feel amazing … this is probably the best I’ve felt all year,” Knack told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain Wednesday.

Knack’s diet has involved avoiding gluten and sweets to help him stay healthy. He adds that he opts to eat Smart Sweets when he does need to fill his sugar fix.

“We’ve stuck with that as much as we could,” Knack told McKain. “Obviously as you’re traveling around as much as we do you’re gonna have some bad stuff here and there, but overall you try and stay as consistent with that as you can … I still think that’s been a huge piece of why we’ve been able to maintain this year and stay as strong as we have because we’ve been very consistent about the routine and regiment of things.”

Knack, who made his MLB debut on April 17, has appeared in 11 games and started nine for the Dodgers this season. He is 2-3 with a 3.00 ERA and 52 strikeouts for the Dodgers. Knack made his most recent start for the Dodgers last Friday after he was called up to the major leagues again. During Friday’s start, Knack pitched six innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs while striking out a career-high eight.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts credited Knack for pitching well despite the Dodgers’ losing 3-1 to the Cleveland Guardians during Friday’s game.

Knack has also spent time with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. With the OKC Dodgers, Knack has appeared in 14 games and started 12 in 2024, putting up a 4-3 record with a 3.71 ERA and 79 strikeouts.
