One of the top questions for the Los Angeles Dodgers when the 2024 MLB season concludes is if they will re-sign outfielder Teoscar Hernández. Hernández signed with the Dodgers in January on a one-year, $23.5 million deal, meaning he is currently set to become a free agent after the season.

Hernández has proven to be a phenomenal addition for the Dodgers. Amid an offseason full of major long-term signings for the Dodgers including to Shohei Ohtani , Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow, Hernández has been one of the most significant players for the Dodgers throughout the year, and at a bargain price.

This season, Hernández has slashed .267/.333/.488 with 143 hits, 76 runs, 28 home runs, and 87 RBIs in 140 games with the Dodgers. He ranks second on the team in hits, runs, doubles, home runs, and RBIs, remaining a consistent force amid injuries in the lineup to Mookie Betts , Max Muncy , and Freddie Freeman this season.

Hernández made his second career All-Star Game and also became the first Dodger to win the Home Run Derby.

If the decision were up to Hernández, he would stay with the Dodgers .

“I want to stay,” Hernández said on the broadcast, via Doug McKain . “I think everybody knows it. I want to be a part of this team for 3,4,5 years to come, but it’s not in my hands. It has to do with the Dodgers. It’s in their hands. I’m just trying to do my best.”

Hernández has remained consistent in his desire to stay with the Dodgers after his one-year contract expires. He previously re-iterated this wish back in June.

“I want to stay,” Hernández told MLB.com’s Bill Ladson in June. “I don’t want to keep bouncing around the league. I feel good here, comfortable. I think this is a good chance for me to win. That is the most important thing for me. It’s a great group. I would love to stay.”

Hernández is now on his fourth MLB team, after playing for the Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, and Seattle Mariners before signing with the Dodgers. He is currently on his third team in three years and feels he has found a place he would like to settle for at least the new future.

love the guy. nit being bias I am dominican. teodcar has contributed alot to the dodgers throughout this year. even being the first player in dodger history to win the 2024 homerun derby. I say we keep him and let's see what more magic he will do for the team.
