Madison Mallards announce new protective netting at Warner Park
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - New protective netting has been installed at Warner Park, the Madison Mallards announced on Thursday. The netting will span the entire first and third base foul lines inside the stadium. More specifically, it will cover the entire 100-level seating area as well as reserved tables down the right field line. The netting had previously only covered an area between sections 102 and 108.

Council approves TID 11 plans
The City of Verona Common Council unanimously approved the creation of Tax Incremental District (TID) 11 at its Monday, July 22 meeting. Located to the north and west of Epic Systems’ existing campus, TID 11 will fund public infrastructure projects and road improvements that support Epic’s growth. The city is estimated to pay approximately $34.9 million in overall project costs.

Wisconsin gives AD Chris McIntosh a 5-year contract extension that includes pay raise
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin athletic director Chris McIntosh has signed a five-year contract extension that includes a pay raise. McIntosh’s contract will now run through June 30, 2029. Jentz wins top honors at National Junior Angus Show
Verona’s Sydney Jentz earned top honors at the 2024 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS). Titled “Showdown in Madtown,” the NJAS took place from June 29 through July 6 at the Alliant Energy Center. It is the largest junior cattle show in the United States featuring various competitions for youth.
Fireworks show a smash hit on second try
After the planned fireworks celebration on July 13 was washed by some storms that moved through the area just before the event was about to start, the Village of Brooklyn gave it another go on Saturday, July 20 at Legion Park. This time, the skies were clear, and not long after dusk, the air was filled with colorful fireworks that delighted the large crowd in attendance.
Alternative Education Program at Richland Center Schools
Richland School District Administrator, Steve Board, presented an alternative education program to the Board of Education at Monday night’s board meeting. He said that alternative education has proven to be successful in the PARTNER School. After thoroughly examining the data and brainstorming solutions over the past several weeks, the Administration has proposed this new alternative education program, which includes all three buildings for this coming school year. This programming would support students who are on the fringe of needing other supports. The proposal would require the addition of one full-time teacher at each of the three buildings and alternative education licensure within the next year. The tentative name being used is the R-SSEE School, pronounced R-C, which stands for Richland Small School Educational Environment, focusing on the smaller class size opportunities for students.
