On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, Kelsea Ballerini shared her dog Dibs’ cancer diagnosis in a series of Instagram stories. The country singer noted that Dibs was not in pain, and neither had the “inoperable cancer in his heart” spread any further.

Updating fans on Dibs’ treatment, she said, “We’re going to start him on the ‘big’ meds to try to make sure he can have as many comfortable and happy days (weeks, months?) left as possible.” Furthermore, Ballerini also complimented the doctors, her mother, and her boyfriend Chase Stokes, calling him “the greatest dog dad in the world.” The country star also assured fans that Dibs was getting “extra cuddles and kibbles from his little family.”

Ballerini confessed to having a “complex and emotional time.” She continued, “He’s been my baby and my steady for the last 9 years and very much alongside this whole journey with us all.” The singer concluded her story by thanking her fans and supporters who sent prayers for Dibs. Alongside this story, she also uploaded a picture of Dibs with a heart emoji over the image.
