Waiting Out the Storm in Prison
Incarcerated Texans describe conditions in prison following Hurricane Beryl. James Guevara has ridden out three hurricanes sheltered in-place in Texas prisons. Hurricane Beryl, which blew into Texas on July 8, knocked out power at the prison where he lives, among several other Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) facilities. The lights went off at Ramsey, a maximum-security prison in Brazoria County where Guevara lives, around 3 a.m. about an hour before the storm hit in earnest.

Farmer Dies in Suspected Killer Bee Attack Near Huntsville, Texas
Bryce Harold Smith, 75, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, after being stung by numerous bees. The attack happened on the man's property just south of Bedias, Texas. According to a report from KCTV-5, Smith was stung approximately 60 times around the face and neck area. The lifelong resident of Bedias was clearing trees with a bulldozer when he apparently came into contact with the hive.

NORTH TEXAS – It has been a more overcast day for a lot of North Texas, and that has certainly kept temps "cooler" than normal for this time of year, but the clouds haven't produced much of any rain here in North Texas. The rain has been more abundant to the south and east and this trend will likely continue overnight.The clouds will linger overnight, especially to the east, but rain chances remain at 20% or less.Severe weather is not expected.
