Sen. Cruz, Reps. Roy, Castro Lead Bipartisan, Bicameral Coalition of Texas Lawmakers in Support of Direct Flight from SAT-DCA
U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Ranking Member Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), and Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) are leading a bipartisan, bicameral coalition of Texas lawmakers in urging Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to allocate San Antonio International Airport (SAT) one of the new long-haul, round-trip flights to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). The recent FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, which Sen. Cruz co-authored as the ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee and was signed into law, secured five new round-trip flights to and from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) from locations previously excluded from direct flights. The Department of Transportation recently announced the application procedures for the eligible airlines and will award slots for new service this summer.

Man arrested after short pursuit in Mexia by police
MEXIA, Texas — A wanted man was arrested in Mexia Wednesday afternoon after a tip came in regarding his whereabouts. According to the Mexia Police Department, officers made their way to a Cefco located on Milam Street around 4 p.m. to bring Michael Sinclair Dunn into custody. After being approached by the Mexia PD officers, he took off in a car, but came to a stop a few blocks away from where he took off, in the 1200 block of East Palestine Street.

After getting Texas A&M ace pitcher Emiley Kenndey some help head softball coach Trisha Ford was able to pull former Washington Huskies catcher, Oliva “Ojo” Johnson, out of the transfer portal. The senior will give Coach Ford some senior leadership behind the plate and more options in the batter’s box. Ford explains why she was excited to land Johnson for the 2025 softball season. “Ojo is a great addition to our program, and we are happy to have her return to the Lone Star state. AXTELL, Texas — One person was critically injured while a total of five others sustained "possible injuries" in a fiery crash in Axtell in the evening on Wednesday, July 3.
