Otis Wilkes Jr Sentenced to IDOC
(Undated) — An Edwardsville, Illinois man was sentenced to the IDOC during a recent August court appearance. Crawford County State’s Attorney, Cole Shaner, reports that on August 26th, Otis Wilkes Jr. was sentenced to six years in the IDOC on the Class 2 Felony charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine With the Intent to Deliver and four years on a Class 3 Felony charge of Failure to Report to a Penal Institution. The sentences will run consecutively. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the prosecution of this case.
SEB Beats Vandalia in Two Set Match
St. Elmo-Brownstown won their third match in a row, while Vandalia fell in their season opener as the Eagles topped the Vandals in two sets 25-17, 25-18 on Thursday night. St. Elmo-Brownstown is off to a 3-0 start to the season with the win and will have a week off before returning to action on Thursday, September 5 at South Central. Vandalia starts the season off at 0-1 and will have their home opener n Tuesday when they host Pana.
Altamont Falls on the Road at Carlyle
The Altamont Lady Indians came up short in their first road match of the season, falling at Carlyle 19-25, 10-25. The loss puts Altamont at 1-1 to start the season and after the Labor Day weekend, they will be back at home on Tuesday as they host Newton in the first of what will be two weekday games followed by their own Altamont Invitational Tournament next Saturday.
BSE Held to One Run in Loss to Wayne City
Brownstown-St. Elmo baseball gave up six runs in the fourth inning and was held to a single run as they fell to Wayne City 12-1 at home on Thursday. Wayne City took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, adding on another three in the third inning for a 4-0 lead over the Bombers. A six-run fourth inning would further boost the Wayne Coty lead as BSE found themselves in a 10-0 hole. Another two runs in the fifth inning made it a 12-0 ballgame before the Bombers were able to put their first and only run on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. That run was not enough to extend the game as BSE fell 12-1 in five innings. The Bombers are now 2-2 on the season and are right back in action at home today as they welcome South Central to Bob Page Field.
