One of the most famous names in the world of psychology is certainly Sigmund Freud. The advice and lessons he left behind are still studied today. According to his point of view, mentally strong people are endowed with certain qualities.

Strength isn't always about what we actively do; it's often about what we refrain from doing. Strong people have a unique set of character traits and behaviors that contribute to their resilience and success.

Sigmund Freud identified 6 things that mentally strong people never do.

    1. They don't regret

Stable and strong personalities simply will not sacrifice themselves and spend their lives regretting that nothing changes in their lives. Every mature person knows that life is in our hands, and that it is extremely important to take responsibility for all actions into our own hands.

Strong people understand that dwelling on past mistakes or missed opportunities is pointless. They don’t waste time and energy on regrets, but instead focus on the present moment and the opportunities it presents.

Strong people are not afraid to express their emotions, share their experiences and seek support when needed.

In this regard, Sigmund Freud wrote: “Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.”

    2. No disputes

It has long been known that truth is not born in disputes and conflicts. Empty arguments and uncompromising imposition of personal opinions lead to nothing. People who have self-confidence will not just enter into empty disputes.

    3. They don't deceive themselves

Sigmund Freud emphasized the concept of the unconscious, where repressed thoughts, desires, and memories reside. Strong individuals confront their deepest conflicts and resist the temptation to deceive themselves about their true motives. They acknowledge their fears, insecurities, and prejudices, refusing to allow these forces to dictate their actions. By confronting their inner demons, they gain a deeper understanding of themselves and remain authentic in their relationships and endeavors.

Freud said: "Being absolutely honest with yourself is a good exercise."

    4. They never stop learning

Those who understand life know how important the learning process is. Strong individuals never stop learning and working to improve their mental abilities. They understand that learning is a lifelong journey, not a destination. Learning new things allows a person to master many areas. Instead of resting on their laurels, they remain curious and open-minded, constantly seeking new experiences and ideas. Whether it is formal education, self-study, or learning through experience, they take every opportunity to broaden their horizons and deepen their understanding of the world.

"The masses have never known a thirst for truth. They demand illusions without which they cannot live. S. Freud

    5. They don't complicate things

Complexity often breeds confusion and inefficiency.

Simplicity is the word that should describe our inner life. The desire to be at peace with ourselves and to avoid confusion and excessive complexity in our heads. Strong personalities understand the value of simplicity and clarity in their thoughts, actions and relationships. They avoid unnecessary complexity.

Sigmund Freud believed that the more interesting and complex a person is, the simpler his inner world.

Freud once said: "Dogs love their friends and bite their enemies, unlike people, who are incapable of pure love and must always mix love and hate in their relationships."

    6. They don't do what they SHOULD do, they do what they love

Freud argued that knowing oneself and getting rid of fear is the key to growing up for every person. A person must discover what he really loves and wants to do.

Strong people bring passion and purpose to everything they do. By following their hearts and staying true to themselves, they reach their full potential and create a meaningful life.

It is very important in our journey through life that we do not do what is expected of us or what is taken for granted. We can reach our full potential if we listen to ourselves.

Sigmund Freud said: “To love and to work are interrelated abilities that are the sign of full maturity.”
