Many of us have the same daily routine: every morning we get up and go through the same motions. Usually this means taking a shower, having breakfast, then scrolling through our phone, seeing what's going on in the country and the world, and then heading to work.

We work and work and work. We have become a generation that constantly thinks about work. Technology has made it easier for us to be constantly tied to our workstation, whether it’s answering emails at home or preparing a presentation for the next morning, etc.

There is too much work in this lifestyle, it has become a big part of our lives. And even when we are at home with our family, we talk about work, answer work phone calls, write messages in work chat and fall asleep with thoughts about work.

Of course, having a job is important – not only does it provide the obvious resources to live on and help pay the bills, but it also gives us a sense of accomplishment. Unfortunately, and all too often, these accomplishments can negatively impact the rest of our lives as we become more and more focused on our careers rather than ourselves and the people around us.

The next time you're stressed about your job, why not take a step back and think about what else you have in your life besides work.

Here are 6 things that are more important than your job.

    1. Family

Family is at the top of the list for a reason, unfortunately, the first thing that suffers when you have too much work is your family relationships. Not only can you miss out on precious time with your family, but you can also miss important events, days, and even entire months. Often, this is what leads to conflicts, misunderstandings, and divorces.

Among the greatest regrets of dying people, there is one that stands out: I worked too much and did not spend time with my family. I did not even notice how my children grew up.

“Sometimes you have to go around the world to find out that the treasure is buried in your own home.” Paulo Coelho

    2. Mental health

Everyone knows that work can be stressful, especially if you work non-stop, neglecting weekends and vacations. This constant stress can wear you down and affect other areas of your life.

You may become tired, irritable, restless, and if this continues, such a load will lead to more serious mental problems. Your sanity is much more important than a few overtime hours at work, so be sure to take a break and clear your head.

Remember that your health is your wealth.

    3. Interests and hobbies

Everyone has different interests, passions and hobbies, and it is very important to develop these interests as much as possible. Our hobbies make us happy and joyful, they add flavor and interest to life. There is nothing wrong with loving your job, but choosing what you enjoy outside of it is a great way to add color and variety to your life.

"With age, the wind gets stronger. And it's always in your face." Pablo Picasso

    4. Physical health

It can be very easy to ignore your physical health.

At work, you sit at your desk all day, often snacking or drinking another cup of coffee. You don't do any physical activity all day, and you drive home. Of course, at the end of the day, you don't have the energy to go for a walk or exercise.

But our bodies are not designed for a sedentary lifestyle. Our cardiovascular system needs oxygen and physical activity. If you ignore a healthy lifestyle, you risk gaining weight or getting sick. Take care of your body. It is the only thing that allows you to live.

A short walk, a jog, or maybe a yoga class will have a huge positive impact on you, both mentally and physically.

    5. Time

Time is our most valuable asset, even more than money. If you spend most of your time at work simply to earn money, you are giving up the most important resource in your life; your time.

Unfortunately, time is something we can never get back, and when we spend time on things that don't really make us happy, we often regret it. So spend more time with your family or friends. Spend more time on things you really enjoy.

"Time is more valuable than money. You can always have more money, but you can't have more time." Jim Rohn

    6. Your personal development

If you spend too much time worrying about your job, the pay raise, the goals and deadlines you need to meet, you will have no room for real personal growth.

Getting ahead in your career is one thing, but being able to achieve your goals and set new ones in your personal life is much more important and will ultimately leave you feeling much stronger and more fulfilled.

These six things may not pay off your mortgage or make you extremely rich financially, but they can do wonders when it comes to making you feel happy.

By making choices about other aspects of your life, not just work, you truly allow yourself to live life to the fullest and enjoy it to the fullest.

The old saying may be tired, but in a world where we work harder than ever, it still holds true: " money can't buy happiness."

On the contrary, what we focus on and do outside of our daily activities can actually bring us joy and satisfaction.

Confucius said very wise words: "People spend their health to make money, and then spend money to restore their health. Nervously thinking about the future, they forget the present, so that they live neither in the present nor for the future. They live as if they would never die, and when they die, they realize that they never lived."
