Intelligence is a complex and multifaceted trait that encompasses not only cognitive abilities, but also emotional intelligence and social awareness. Intelligence is not only determined by the level of education and the number of books read. Intelligence manifests itself in different ways. Especially in everyday situations, in communication with other people.

There are phrases that smart people try never to utter. These are cliched expressions that have little to do with good manners and are not the best indicator of a sharp mind. A real intellectual should know about this and bite his tongue before allowing himself such tactlessness.

So, here are 7 phrases you will never hear from a smart person:

    1. You look pretty good for your age.

In theory, this should be a compliment emphasizing a person's appearance. But in reality, this phrase is offensive because it indicates a mature age. It is worth appreciating and praising other people, but definitely not in this way.

    2. As you wish

Intelligence is not only book wisdom, but above all life wisdom. A smart person can make decisions and take responsibility for them. When asked questions like "Do you prefer this or that?" or "What would you like?" a smart person does not answer - "it doesn't matter", because he knows what he wants and listens to himself before making a decision.

    3. I would never do that, say that, etc...

We often use this phrase to point out someone's mistake. The problem is not in the fact, but in the form. Telling someone that someone did something bad and that something like that would never happen to you is tactless. Besides, no one is insured against anything, no one knows what fate has in store for us.

    4. You don't look good today.

No one is full of energy and impressive in appearance 24 hours a day. Sometimes we are just tired or have various health problems. If you notice that someone is not looking well, without knowing the reasons, you can offend or insult them.

    5. Because you always…Because you never….

These phrases most often distort reality and are not true. As a rule, they are used in a quarrel to express dissatisfaction and nagging at another person. A reasonable person can specifically say what he does not like and what he expects from another person. Such generalizations unnecessarily heat up the atmosphere.

    6. You have lost a lot of weight.

Contrary to appearances, few people take this as a compliment. It's more like a slap on the nose: you were so fat not long ago, but somehow you managed to lose the extra weight. It's more appropriate to say that the other person looks great.

    7. It has always been like this

The seeming stuckness in the past gives the impression that the person saying this is not open enough to admit that, especially in times of new technologies, there are more efficient ways to do ordinary tasks. One must be able to be open to new possibilities and adapt to the world around us.
