DNR fighting spread of invasive place species on Clear Lake
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – An invasive species of plant has spread on Clear Lake. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says a small area of Eurasian watermilfoil was originally found during fall 2023 east of the McIntosh Beach. The outbreak was treated in May, but a larger area has now been found near Farmer’s Beach.

A scows, 38 ft long-will be racing Sun afternoon through Wed morning. MC scows, 16 ft long racing Mon-Wed. On Thurs morning C scows, 20 ft long- and E scows, 28 ft long will take to the water.

The Moline-based shoegaze band The House Flies celebrates their new album with a show at the Raccoon Motel. A full lineup of performers is slated to perform at a benefit for Palestine at the Englert Theatre. If you’re in the mood for drinks and Iowa history, the Putnam Museum will feature UI professor and Davenport native Gates Thomas on “Davenport’s Twisted History” as part of its History on Tap lecture series on Thursday night.
