CAMBRIDGE — The Cambridge Police Department is investigating two shots fired incidents.

According to a press release from CPD, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 3:41 a.m. on May 25 for multiple shots fired in the area of Race and Muir streets. Police said officers on the scene found spent 9mm shell casings in the area. Officers did not find any victims or notice any property damage.

Police said the department also received a report that a man was seen running from the area on Muir Street. Three days after police received the ShotSpotter alert, they learned that a building in the 500 block of Race Street was struck by gunfire.

In a separate incident on May 27, officers responded to the 600 block of Pine Street a little after 4 p.m. for a ShotSpotter alert for multiple shots fired. Police said when officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with multiple people in the area who said they hadn’t seen anything.

During the course of the investigation, officers did find a residence that had been struck by a bullet, which reportedly went through the front door and several walls of the home. Police said a resident told officers that she, another adult and an infant were in the living room of the house when the bullet was fired. Police said no injuries were reported.

CPD is investigating both incidents. Anyone with information relating to the incidents can contact the police department at 410-228-3333. All callers can remain anonymous.
