    Six Flags completes merger with Kings Dominion owner Cedar Fair

    HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Six Flags and Cedar Fair, owner of Kings Dominion, have announced the completed merger between the amusement park companies.

    Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced the completion of a merger of equals between Cedar Fair, L.P. and former Six Flags Entertainment Corporation effective on Monday, July 1.

    According to a press release from Six Flags, the combined company will operate under the “Six Flags Entertainment Corporation” name.

    “We believe that by combining the best ideas and most successful entertainment practices of both Six Flags and Cedar Fair, the new Six Flags can deliver a superior level of joy and excitement that has yet to be experienced by regional park guests,” said Selim Bassoul, executive chairman of the board of directors of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.

    Under the terms of the merger agreement, Cedar Fair unitholders received one share of common stock in Six Flags Entertainment Corporation for each unit owned.

    Former Six Flags shareholders received 0.5800 shares of common stock in Six Flags Entertainment Corporation for each share owned.

    According to the press release, each park in the combined company’s portfolio will retain its legacy branding with no changes to park names currently being planned or contemplated.
