HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — A Dothan woman was jailed this week after a Houston County Grand Jury indicted her on several counts of insurance fraud.

In early June, Allison Dawn Benton Davis, 53, was indicted on nine counts of insurance fraud in the first degree and two counts of insurance fraud in the second degree.

Davis’ 11 count indictment claims she defrauded local insurance companies, a Houston County based community college, and other local businesses for around $77,000.

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office tells WDHN an investigation into Davis’s alleged fraud began around 2022 but was turned over to the Alabama Department of Insurance shortly after.

Houston County Jail records show Davis turned herself in on Wednesday, July 24, six weeks after the indictment. She was released on an $150,000 bond nearly an hour after she was booked.
