1 dead in crash off Liberty Expressway
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Albany on Friday. Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler confirmed to WALB that a white male’s body was found after a crash on the Liberty Expressway. The truck left the roadway, went down an embankment and into the woods.

Teen Art Board Application Period Extended
High school students in the Albany area can apply through Wednesday, July 17, for the 2024-25 AMA Teen Art Board, a student leadership program at the Albany Museum of Art. “High school students from Dougherty County and surrounding counties are eligible to apply,” AMA Director of Education and Public Programming Annie Vanoteghem said. “The students selected to be on the board for the 2024-25 school year will be passionate about reaching the community and their fellow teens through art. They will be committed to attending our in-person meetings each month at the AMA, and helping with programs and events at the museum.”
Albany mobile grocer expands to downtown community market
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A mobile food initiative is setting up shop in Downtown Albany to fight the war against food insecurity in the area. Tiffany and Tommie Terrell’s mobile initiative called “A Better Way Grocers” serves Dougherty, Colquitt, Thomas, and Mitchell Counties. Now they say their new community market, located on 106 South Jackson Street, will help solve the food insecurity problem in Downtown Albany.
