Body recovered from Platte River confirmed to be teen who went missing near Fremont
FREMONT, Neb. (WOWT) - The body of a missing teenager has been recovered from the Platte River. The mother of 17-year-old Jackson Potter confirmed to 6 News Thursday night his body was found near Sokol Camp, south of Valley in Douglas County. Authorities had been searching for Potter after he was swept away by the raging waters of the Platte south of Fremont Sunday night.

Mosquitoes in Nebraska’s Panhandle test positive for West Nile virus
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A Panhandle mosquito trap site has recently collected mosquitoes positive for West Nile virus. These tests are the first ones to come back positive for the virus this summer, according to the Panhandle Public Health District (PPHD). These positive mosquitoes give PPHD, along with other health departments, an indicator of the location of the virus and where people may encounter mosquitoes carrying the virus.
Man sentenced to decades in prison after shooting at Omaha police officer 14 times
OMAHA, Neb. — A Douglas County judge sentenced a man to decades in prison forattempted murder. James Wilson received 47 to 81 years for attempted second-degree murder, two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony and three counts of terroristic threats. He is eligible for parole after 30 years and has credit for 375 days served.
