New parking system near Zephyr Cove significantly helps Tahoe overcrowding during holiday
A new parking system implemented near Zephyr Cove and Nevada Beach significantly helped reduce the typical beach overcrowding over the 4th of July. Douglas County said they typically see anywhere from 800 to 900 cars parked along Warrior Way over the 4th of July and this year 250 cars parked legally.

Genoa, Nev. — Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin reported a high temperature of 105 degrees at his place around 2:15 p.m. Monday. A thermometer in the Gardnerville Ranchos recorded 104 degrees while one in Sunridge hit 103, according to the National Weather Service. The record for July 9 was 104 degrees set in 2002.

23 illegally parked vehicles towed over Fourth at Lake Tahoe
Douglas County officials are calling the new parking efforts at Zephyr Cove “the most successful parking compliance initiative” in county history. Sheriff’s deputies and Nevada State Police troopers focused on no-parking zones along the highway and had 23 vehicles towed. The Sheriff’s Office issued 18 citations for a variety of traffic and parking violations.

Over 250 cars parked along Warrior Way on July 4; 23 towed from no parking areas on US50
ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. - With the new parking situation on US50 and along Warrior Way at Zephyr Cove, the results of a busy holiday were unknown, until now. The Whittell High School/Zephyr Cove parent groups were running parking operations at the two schools and along Warrior Way as their annual fundraiser. PTA and Booster Club Treasurer Erinn Miller said July 4 ran fairly well, with most drivers paying the $100 holiday fee to park off the highway in an area with temporary restrooms and dumpsters. Miller was on Warrior Way with family and other parent volunteers on Thursday and Friday. The non-holiday-period fee to park for the day is $20 on weekdays and $40 on weekends. Douglas County residents are free.
