Economist Reacts To Olympic Events Coming To Oklahoma City
As the world prepares for the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Oklahomans are anticipating their own Olympic future in 2028. Officials announced in June that Oklahoma City would host the Canoe Slalom and Softball events during LA28. Economist Steve Agee said basic economic principles have made the practice of spreading events to other cities more widely accepted.
Most officers named in $2 million settlement still at Tulsa Police Department
Most Tulsa police officers named in a remarkable settlement for shooting a man to death in 2020 still work for the department. Eight officers confronted Jonathan Randell on Aug. 8, 2020 as he had a mental health episode outside of a Catholic Charities facility in north Tulsa. They first fired pepper balls at Randell while he harmed himself with a pocket knife. Then, they shot him when he threw the knife in their direction, even though most of them were behind police cars or riot shields.
From dining spot to learning center: Potential new purpose for Ardmore building
ARDMORE, Okla. (KTEN) — The building at 127 West Main Street in downtown Ardmore has been sitting vacant since December after Sunset Grill had to close its doors for good. "It's a large building. SIX KHS GRADS PARTICIPATE IN OCA ALL-STATE
The recent news about all-state nominations for some of our KHS grads has sparked a wave of excitement and pride in Kingfisher. The Oklahoma Coaches Association has recognized the incredible talent of six outstanding students. Each student was nominated by their coaches and selected by the Oklahoma Coaches Association to participate in their All-State programs. They are Peyton Walker, Damien Haynes, Gant Browning, Jace Johnson, Jake Reagan, and Libbie Barnett. On July 24th, Peyton Walker participated in the All-State girls’ basketball game at Sapulpa High School, she represented the Large West team. Damien Haynes, Gant Browning, and Jace Johnson participated in All-State Wrestling at Broken Arrow High School. These recent graduates will be representing the Small West Wrestling team. Damien will be wrestling in the 150-weight class, Gant in 132, and Jace in 144. Today, July 26th, Jake Reagan is participating in the All-State Football game at Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee, representing the west team Lastly, at halftime of the football game, Libbie Barnett as well as other All-State Queen Candidates will be recognized and one will be chosen as the OCA All-State Queen.
Muscogee Nation Announces $100M Coweta Casino Hotel Project
TULSA, OK – Leaders from the Muscogee Nation and Muscogee Nation Gaming Enterprises have announced a $100 million capital investment to build the Coweta Casino Hotel on 17 acres at the southeast corner of East 131st Street South and State Highway 51 in Coweta, OK. The project will break ground in September 2024 and open in spring 2026. The Coweta Casino Hotel will create 250 new jobs in the greater Tulsa region.
