Snowmobile registration fees could go up by this time next year
Registering your snowmobile might become more expensive in Wyoming. The hope is this will save the budget of a state trails program. Over the last two months, Wyoming lawmakers on the Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resource interim committee have been hearing from the snowmobiling world. Two main takeaways: Wyoming is world renowned for the sport and is seeing more users every year. But, the upkeep of trails along with inflation is putting the state trails program in the hole – to the tune of about half a million dollars a year.

Powell hosts the 2024 Wyoming American Legion Baseball Class ‘A’ State Tournament from July 27-31. It is an eight-team, modified, double-elimination bracket. The Powell Pioneers are the defending Class A State Champions. It was their first championship since 2010. Six of the eight teams were in last year’s field. Also, thanks to a gate sponsor, there is no fee to attend the games.
Air quality alert issued for Natrona County due to wildfire smoke
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Much of eastern Wyoming is now under an air quality alert until 1 p.m. Wednesday. On Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne stated that Casper and other parts of the state are currently experiencing poor air quality conditions due to wildfire smoke originating from Canada and the Pacific Northwest.

Boys & Girls Club to mark 55 years with fundraiser pickup truck raffle
CASPER, Wyo. — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming is celebrating its 55th anniversary, and to mark the occasion it will be raffling off a restored pickup truck. The truck is a 1979 Ford F-250, donated to the club by supporter Kelly Wenzel and rebuilt by Legacy Classic Trucks. According to the Boys & Girls Club, the truck is valued at $170,000 following its restoration.

Family Planning Receives Grant for New Equipment
ROCK SPRINGS – Western Wyoming Family Planning is the recipient of a grant that will help it purchase new equipment. The United Way of Southwest Wyoming recently awarded the organization a $7,275 grant to purchase a new exam bed, exam light, a colposcope, and an Autoclave. Alex Roberson, the director of Western Wyoming Family Planning, said the new equipment not only upgrades what they already have but also helps improve the services they offer. The light in particular is a needed upgrade because Roberson said the clinical provider often uses her chin to readjust it while conducting an exam.
