Woman charged with stealing car from parking lot of Delaware Park

A Dover woman is behind bars, charged with stealing a car from the parking lot of Delaware Park while its owner was busy gambling inside.

The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. June 28 at the casino east of Newark, according to Delaware State Police.

The woman plucked the car keys from the victim's jacket, which had been left unattended at a slot machine, police said. She then went out into the parking lot, found the Nissan Altima and drove away with it, police said.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Breana Brooks, 28.

Officers with the Dover Police Department located Brooks in the stolen car the following day. She was charged with motor vehicle theft and was jailed after failing to post $2,000 secured bond.
