The Delaware (MOT) Intermediate All-stars went 2-0 over the weekend as the host of the Intermediate Eastern Regional at Dover Little League. The division is for ages 11-13 with postseason tournament opportunities, including a World Series, offering a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance and 90-foot base paths).

In game one Delaware (MOT) played Connecticut (Fairfield American) Saturday at 10am. MOT’s pitching was dominant in the game. Starting pitcher Mason Guth surrendered one run on no hits over three and one-third innings while walking three and striking out ten batters. In relief Nathan Collins surrendered one run on one hit over three innings while walking one and striking out five batters. The two combined to allow just one hit between them. Ayden Markiewicz & Jordyn Brown helped close the game out.

Offensively Kai Johnson, Brown, and Collins each collected two hits a piece for MOT.  AJ Nichols led the team with two runs batted in while Brown, Guth, and Colton Murray each added one. MOT totaled nine hits in the 5-2 victory.

After advancing in the winners bracket MOT faced Maryland (Hub City) Sunday morning at 10am. MOT found themselves behind, but were able to dig out of the deficit for a big comeback victory.

Hub City jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning and led the game until the top of the sixth inning. Down 4-2 MOT put up three runs  in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead. Miles Clark got things started with a one out single. Nathan Collins followed him with a double that scored Clark for the first run of the inning.

Jordyn Brown then bunted and reached safely while Collins scored from second base for the second run of the inning. Brown then stole second and third base and eventually stole home for what proved to be the game winning run. As a team MOT stole nine bases as Brown had four of them himself.

Collins and Brown each collected two hits with one run batted in. Brown also scored twice for MOT. Mason Guth and Colton Murray each added a hit.

MOT advances to play New Hampshire tomorrow morning at 10am.
