DOVER — A 35-year-old Dover man was arrested after a shooting incident on Saturday, Delaware State Police said.

According to authorities, at approximately 7:23 a.m., troopers responded to North Bay Drive for a report of a shooting. The preliminary investigation revealed that two construction workers were driving on Kitts Hummock Road when they stopped to assist a man who they thought needed help, police said.

While the workers were talking with the man, later identified as Dennis Swain, they began to argue, and Mr. Swain threatened to get a gun, police said. The workers left and drove to a construction site on North Bay Drive when they saw Mr. Swain approach yelling, with a gun, and then shot at them, police said.

The workers were not hurt, police said.

Mr. Swain was charged with reckless endangering (two counts) and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $25,000 cash bond.
