Summer Classic basketball tournament helps smaller schools build their games
HOWLAND - 22 boys teams and 11 girls teams participated in the ninth annual Summer Classic high school basketball tournament this weekend. Mattanawcook Academy, Lee Academy, and Penobscot Valley co-hosted the event made up mostly of smaller schools with larger schools such as Caribou and Belfast mixed in. CLINTON – Chappell F. Nelson, 64, passed away unexpectedly June 19, 2024, in Levant. He was born Jan. 5, 1960 in Waterville, the son of Fred and Carleen Nelson. Chap graduated from Lawrence High School. He graduated from Colby College in 1982 and received a master’s degree from Ohio State University. After graduating he worked at Colby as the equipment manager starting in 1985, until going to Bowdoin in 2016.
