DOVER ‒ Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital will be investing $7 million in its radiation oncology services to improve cancer care in the Tuscarawas Valley.

The Ohio General Assembly has approved $1 million to support the upgrade.

The project, due to begin later this year, will involve the installation of new radiation therapy equipment in the hospital, with the enhanced facility projected to open in 2025.

Union Hospital worked closely over the past year with state Sen. Al Landis, R-Dover, and state Rep. Brett Hillyer, R-Uhrichsville, to support the inclusion of these funds in House Bill 2.

During this transition period, patients will have access to radiation oncology services at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital. Infusion therapy treatments and care provided by Tri-County Hematology & Oncology Associates at Union Hospital will continue as usual and are unaffected by the ongoing project.

“This investment is part of Union Hospital’s long-term strategy to enhance access to care for the residents of the Tuscarawas Valley,” said Dr. Thomas J. Rogers, vice president south submarket and chief medical officer of Union Hospital. “We appreciate the support from the state of Ohio and look forward to embarking on this project.”
