DOYLESTOWN, PA—The next time you drive by the YMCA in Doylestown, you may notice some changes.

Starting on July 1, the YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties is officially known as the River Crossing YMCA. The organization includes the YMCAs in those two counties along with YMCA locations in Lehigh and Northampton counties that were previously part of the Greater Valley YMCA.

The new regional organization, which became official on Monday, has Bucks County locations in Doylestown, Fairless Hills, Newtown, Quakertown and Warminster. It has Lehigh County locations in Allentown and Catasauqua, and Northampton County locations in Bethlehem, Easton, Nazareth and Pen Argyl.

In Hunterdon County, N.J., the YMCA has a Deer Path branch in Flemington.

River Crossing YMCA is now a $55-plus million organization with more than 2,000 employees, 142,000 members and participants, 12 membership branches and $10 million in annual fundraising and grants.

The organization also includes early childhood centers, summer camps and child-care programs for school-age children.

“As one YMCA, we truly are stronger together, committed to building upon the excellence of over 100 years of service to our local communities,” Zane Moore, President/CEO of River Crossing YMCA, said in a statement. “Our members and participants will benefit from strengths and talents from both organizations with a greater variety of high-quality programs.”

The new organization is the result of a years-long series of mergers. Moore joined the organization in 2011 when he was brought on board to run what was then the Central Bucks YMCA. The first merger occurred when the Central Bucks Y joined forces with the Lower and Upper Bucks organizations, a process that was complete by 2019. By 2022, that organization had merged with the Hunterdon County YMCA across the river in New Jersey.

When the Greater Valley YMCA’s leader left in the summer of 2023, Moore was put in charge of that organization in an arrangement intended to explore a merger with the YMCA of Bucks and Hunterdon Counties.
