Peace Valley Park fully reopens after incident in lot outside welcome center

Part of Peace Valley Park in Doylestown was closed unexpectedly Friday morning. A parking lot near the Peace Valley Nature Center and the Chapman Road park access were closed off, a county spokesperson said, but other parts of the park remained open and accessible.

Someone allegedly died by suicide in a car in the parking lot, the spokesperson said Friday. Several county offices, including the park rangers, the Coroner's Office, the Haz-Mat team, and local fire and EMS were on the scene at the park, which includes Lake Galena.

All sections of the park that had been closed during the investigation have now reopened, the county spokesperson said.

The Peace Valley Nature Center, also known as the Visitor's Center, remains closed for renovations and was closed at the time of Friday's incident. The center, which has been closed since June 3, includes indoor restrooms, a seed shed, and a bird blind. There are currently portable restrooms in the parking lot, according to the center's website .

The renovations include a roof replacement, and new gutters, insulation and HVAC, according to the center's June newsletter . The project was intitially estimated to be completed last month; an updated completion date has not yet been provided.
