DOYLESTOWN, PA—Delaware Valley University will bring back its competition for startup businesses in November and it’s looking for businesses that want to compete.
Del Val’s Spark Bowl is co-hosted by the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce and Startup Bucks, an organization that helps startup businesses in Bucks County. The competition is modeled after the TV show “Shark Tank” and has local entrepreneurs, businesses and nonprofits compete by offering up problem-solving ideas for businesses.
A panel of judges will review finalists that have gone through a preliminary screening. At last year’s competition, five finalists worked with a student team and an advisor to create a five-minute pitch for an idea they came up with for the event.
This year’s event, which will take place on Nov. 21, is accepting applications. There is no fee for businesses to enter the competition, and applicants can include for-profits and non-profits serving Bucks County and beyond.
The winners from last year’s competition were female-owned businesses developing products to help colicky babies sleep and to provide consumers with a healthier type of granola. (More on last year’s winners is on TAPinto Doylestown.)
