Elton John Says His Sons Are Worried About Him As His Health Worsens

After a recent update about his health on social media, Elton John attended the premiere of his new documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, at the Toronto Film Festival last Friday. While reflecting on his condition, he revealed that his sons, Zachary Jackson and Elijah Joseph Daniel, are concerned about how much time he has left.

Like his kids, Elton is also worried about his mortality, as he wishes to be around for more milestones. The 77-year-old has resolved to make the most of his time with his sons alongside his partner, David Furnish.

Elton John’s health issues explored

Elton stopped touring last year after his Farewell Yellow Brick Road concerts to focus on his family. Although the five-time Grammy winner is no longer on the road, he still makes music and has collaborated with the likes of Dolly Parton in the past months. He reminisced his time trotting the country while admitting that living a less active life has been challenging.

Although Elton’s mind is made up about touring, he plans to do a one-off show in the near future to keep his fans entertained. After a wonderful career filled with ups and downs, Elton believes he has earned the right to take a back seat and enjoy the mundane things in life.

Elton John’s health over the years

Elton has maintained sobriety in the past three decades; however, it was no easy feat doing away with substances such as cocaine in his prime. He also suffered from bulimia and was later misdiagnosed with colon cancer, which turned out to be appendicitis. In 2017, he underwent surgery for prostate cancer, followed by a hip surgery that led to the postponement of his last tour.

The legendary musician suffered many more health challenges, including COVID-19, a couple more damaging falls, and another unknown reason that led to him publicly peeing in a bottle. In usual Elton fashion, he remains hopeful for his recovery and has assured his Instagram followers of his well-being. “I pray you recover quickly and soon,” one of his fans commented.
