Hayley Mills’ Hollywood career was set in stone with her dual role as twins Susan and Sharon in Disney’s The Parent Trap. With her unforgettable delivery of both characters, she snagged the 1961 Golden Globe award for New Star of the Year – Actress.

Mills starred in more movies as a teen sensation, and shifted her focus to British TV series as she aged; however, she is now set to return to the American movie scene with her latest role. She also explored theater with West End’s 1969 revival of Peter Pan in her twenties.

Mills was delighted to play a major role in the new thriller Trap alongside Josh Hartnett, who plays a runaway serial killer. Mills’ character, Dr. Josephine Grant, was the FBI profiler on the murder case, which is a fitting part of her reappearance.

Fans have tried to connect the dots, saying Mill’s character ends up trapping a parent like the name of her most popular movies movie implies. Her latest role comes after her guest appearance as Nancy Martin in a Death in Paradise episode earlier this year.

The 78-year-old told The Hollywood Reporter that it was lovely to be back on set, noting that aging has affected her career in recent times. Mills added that playing Dr. Grant allowed her to bring a blend of old age and wit to the screen, even though she could hardly believe she was cast for the part.

Mills did not expect to star in another movie and assumed she was cast by mistake on getting the offer. Thankfully, she snagged the unexpected gig and would not have it any other way. The mother of two has had an admirable career run, which she detailed in her 2021 memoir, Forever Young.
