Matarazzo appears to commit himself to Hoffenheim amid US speculation

Hoffenheim coach Pellegrino Matarazzo has distanced himself from reports saying he will be the next coach of the US men's national team.

"It is extremely important to create clarity and calm in this turbulent phase. I am proud to be the coach of this team and I am very much looking forward to competing with the boys in European competition in the new season," Matarazzo said in a Hoffenheim statement on Tuesday.

Matarazzo is American and impressed by leading Hoffenheim to seventh in the Bundesliga last term. The new season is just weeks away.

Frank Kramer, interim sporting director, added: "For us, there was and is no question that we are going into the new season with our coach. Last season and recent days at the training camp have shown that the coaching team and the squad are moving in the same direction."

Last week, the club parted ways with sporting director Alexander Rosen with immediate effect.
