Report: German coach Hürzeler wants Hummels at Brighton

Former Germany defender Mats Hummels has spoken to new Brighton coach Fabian Hürzeler about joining the Premier League side, broadcaster Sky reported on Tuesday.

Hürzeler, 31, has joined Brighton after leading St Pauli to the Bundesliga and wants a German connection by bringing in the out-of-contract 35-year-old, the report added.

Hummels allowed his contract with Borussia Dortmund to expire in June.

Bologna made Hummels an offer, but according to media reports, the 2014 world champion will not be moving to Serie A.

Premier League club West Ham United are also rumoured to have Hummels on their radar. Hummels would be reunited with his former Dortmund team-mate Niclas Füllkrug, who has signed a contract with the Hammers until 2028.
