Slovenian Janja Garnbret followed Tokyo combined gold with another Olympic speed climbing title when she won the new boulder and lead competition in Paris on Saturday.

Brooke Raboutou, born in the US city of Boulder, took boulder and lead silver at the Paris Olympics.

It is the first major medal for the 23-year-old American, who finished fifth in the combined event as sport climbing made its Olympic debut in Tokyo three years ago.

Raboutou is from a family of climbers and was second in the boulder section with 84.0 points before placing fifth in the lead climb for 72.0 points. It looked like a combined total of 156.0 might be enough until Garnbret struck at the death.

World champion Garnbet was best in boulder and third in lead for a winning total of 168.5.

Austrian Jessica Pilz took an emotional bronze at the Le Bourget Climbing Venue.

Briton Toby Roberts sealed men's gold on Friday.

Poland's Aleksandra Miroslaw won women's speed gold earlier in the week, with Indonesia's Veddriq Leonardo taking the men's title.
